According to the US Department of the Treasury, Taiwan holds $259 billion in US Treasury bonds, making it the 11th largest holder in the US. The yield on US bonds has risen to around 5% after the last Fed rate hike, leading to increased investment in long-term US bond ETFs like Cathay 20-Year US Bonds (00687B). The fund has seen significant growth this year, with its assets increasing by NT$75.8 billion, reaching a total of NT$156.1 billion. Investors are taking advantage of the current discounted prices and high yields, positioning themselves for stable returns and potential capital gains.
