Taiwanese Main Suspect Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Smuggling 339kg of Drugs to Japan, Damaging Taiwan's Image

Reported 12 months ago

In a cross-border drug smuggling case in 2018, involving mainly Taiwanese suspects, 339kg of methamphetamine worth around 20 billion Japanese yen was concealed in car tire rims and smuggled to Nagoya, Japan. While three Taiwanese individuals received sentences in Japan, the main suspect was later arrested in Taiwan. Despite denying the crime, the main suspect was sentenced to life imprisonment in Taiwan for denying the offense, causing significant harm to Taiwan's image, and being a key figure in the drug smuggling operation.
