On June 20, 2024, in New Taipei City, the police cracked down on a drug case involving a man who was unemployed and made a living by selling e-cigarette bullets, earning up to 100,000 Taiwanese dollars a month. During a search at his residence, the police found e-cigarette bullets and drug components, confiscating over 4,000 bullets valued at over a million dollars. The man, who was identified by his surname Dong and aged 24, relied on selling e-cigarette bullets for income, purchasing them from upstream suppliers online and reselling them to customers through messaging apps, making a profit each month. Dong claimed ignorance about the e-cigarette bullets containing third-class drug ketamine and was subsequently detained for violating drug control laws. The police warned about the emerging trend of using e-cigarette bullets as a new form of drug abuse and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to help combat illegal drug trafficking and maintain social security.
