Following a trial at Taichung District Court on June 20, 2024, Dai was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison and fined NT$60,000 for the illegal possession of a non-standard firearm. A man surnamed Lu in Taichung City found a gun on a sidewalk in the early hours of the morning, prompting him to quickly report it to the police. Surveillance footage revealed that it was Dai who threw the gun out of his car window while being chased by the police. Despite denying ownership, Dai was convicted following testimony from a friend who accompanied him in search of a gun. The court determined that Dai's actions posed a threat to public safety, leading to the verdict of 5 years and 6 months in prison with a fine, which can still be appealed.
