The Taichung City Fire Department handles over 170,000 emergency calls on average per year, with nearly a hundred calls each month being alcohol-induced, mentally unstable, or malicious harassment calls, hindering rescue operations. Despite warnings, some citizens continue to occupy the emergency hotline without reason, leading to cases like a man falsely reporting a community fire, resulting in wasted resources. In response, the department has fined individuals who misuse the emergency line as a deterrent, urging the public to respect and preserve emergency resources for those in genuine need.
