A Taiwanese man surnamed Xie, also known as 'Brother Ah,' collaborated with 6 accomplices in 2018 to smuggle 40 billion worth of methamphetamine to Japan, which was later busted by authorities. Xie fled to Vietnam but was arrested last year. After a trial in Taichung, the court found Xie guilty of transporting second-level drugs and sentenced him to life imprisonment, citing his severe misconduct and damage to the country's image. Xie, who denied the charges, played a significant role in providing funds and coordinating the drug transportation, leading to the severe judgment.
