On June 17, 2024, a 61-year-old homeless man named Qiao verbally abused an 18-year-old college student outside the Taiwan High-Speed Rail station in Kaohsiung for no apparent reason, causing fear and distress. The college student, accompanied by friends, recorded the incident where Qiao, shirtless, hurled obscenities and threats at them. The student later filed a complaint with the police upon returning to Kaohsiung. Despite the incident, some netizens diverted the focus to body shaming comments and humor unrelated to the seriousness of the situation. The police are searching for Qiao, but he remains at large.
