On July 6, Taiwanese Mayor of Taoyuan and current Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Zheng Wen-Can, was detained by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office under the Anti-Corruption Act. Zheng, through his lawyer, asserted that he did not engage in any illegal activities, will fully cooperate with the judicial investigation, hoping to clarify the truth quickly and prove his innocence. The Prosecutors Office deemed that there are sufficient grounds for his arrest for alleged bribery in connection to official duties, and requested his detention and prohibition from receiving visitors. Zheng's detention is related to a land case in Guishan.}
