The Taiwanese Air Force confirmed the suspension of the salvage operation for the Mirage 2000 fighter jet, coded '2017,' that crashed due to a mechanical failure in March 2022 off the coast of Taitung. Despite initial attempts to outsource the salvage operation, the original contracted company withdrew due to losses, and subsequent bids attracted no interested parties. With the difficulty and cost involved in the salvage operation and the wreckage being unidentifiable due to environmental factors, no companies are willing to undertake the risk of salvaging the fighter jet.
