On June 27, 2024, a 36-year-old Taiwanese mountaineer tragically fell 250 meters to his death in France during a climb, reportedly identified as renowned climber Chang Yuanzhi. The accident occurred in a non-technical area where the climber did not secure a safety rope. The victim's body was found by the French search and rescue team at Mont Blanc. Although speculation points to Chang Yuanzhi as the deceased, it has yet to be confirmed by his family. Chang Yuanzhi, known for setting records in Taiwan and engaging in mountain disputes, was recognized for his contributions to the climbing community.
