On July 8th, 2024, in Nankang, Tainan City, a gun attack occurred where Lin Shijie, a director of the Fisheries Association, was ambushed by a shooter who fired 11 rounds from two guns at close range. Lin was hit at least six times in vital areas like the head, chest, and neck before the shooter fled the scene. The driver in the car witnessed the incident but hesitated before reporting to the police.
