On July 6, 2024, Taoyuan Mayor and Deputy Premier Zheng Wen-Can was suspected of taking bribes during his term as mayor in the development case of the Huaya Science Park. Yesterday evening, Zheng was taken back for questioning by the Taoyuan Prosecutor's Office and requested for remand detention and no visitation. Today, the court ruled for Zheng to pay a bail of 5 million NT, with restrictions on residence, travel, and leaving the country. Taoyuan City's Economic Development Bureau responded that the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice had recently requested information and files from relevant units of Taoyuan City government, and the bureau had cooperated with the investigation.
