On July 3, 2024, at 2:08 AM, Taiwan's Penghu fishing boat Da Jin Man 88 was suddenly inspected by Chinese maritime police and taken to Weitou Port in Fujian with five fishermen on board. The Taiwan Coast Guard Administration held a press conference to explain the situation, revealing footage that showed their patrol boat entering mainland Chinese waters. Despite being outnumbered by Chinese patrol ships, the Taiwan Coast Guard had to rely on broadcasting hope for the release of the detained fishing boat as they entered mainland China's territorial waters to avoid escalating conflicts.
