A police officer surnamed Wu in Taitung County was riding a motorcycle when he was thought to have been hit by a protected Eurasian lynx, causing him to lose control and crash, leaving him in critical condition. The Eurasian lynx, a second-level protected species, was found dead on the scene. The accident is under investigation to determine the exact cause. The incident is the first suspected 'bird attack' crash in the area, occurring during the breeding season of the Eurasian lynx, which is abundant along the newly opened road known for its diverse bird species.
