Taiwanese Politician Cheng Wen-tsang Released on Bail of NT$5 Million After Allegations of Corruption, Prosecutor Files Objection in Court

The former mayor of Taoyuan and current Chairman of Straits Exchange Foundation, Cheng Wen-tsang, was accused of corruption and arrested by Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office under the Anti-Corruption Act. After a 2-hour court session, Cheng was granted bail of NT$5 million with no need for detention. The prosecutor immediately objected to the court's decision. The case continues to unfold.
