Former Taoyuan City Mayor and chairman of the Strait Exchange Foundation, Cheng Wen-tsang, was suspected of violating the Anti-Corruption Act. The Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office applied to the court for detention and restricted Cheng's activities. However, former DPP Taoyuan City councilor Wang Hao-yu expressed astonishment on Facebook, questioning why Cheng, who already had trouble handling legal political donations, would resort to illegal means. Wang also highlighted discrepancies in Cheng's behavior towards legal vs. illegal donations, emphasizing the need for a transparent investigation.
