Taoyuan City Councilor Lin Tao expressed concerns over the growth of AI development in Taiwan outpacing the stable power supply, urging the government to reconsider its anti-nuclear stance and restart nuclear energy development under safety measures to address the electricity shortage issue. Lin highlighted the need for Taiwan to maintain stable energy supply as AI industries globally require a 3% increase in electricity consumption annually. He criticized the government's inconsistency in energy policy and called on Energy Minister Kuo Jyh-huei to prioritize expertise over political ideology for the benefit of Taiwan's development and power stability.
