On June 30, 2024, Taiwanese politician Chang An-le, also known as 'White Wolf,' was acquitted in the appeals court on charges of receiving and not truthfully reporting political donations from China under the Political Donations Act. However, he was sentenced to 8 months in prison for tax evasion and document forgery. Chang An-le was found to have set up the China Unification Promotion Party without a dedicated political donation account and received donations from external sources. Additionally, his son and daughter-in-law were implicated in falsifying business records and misappropriation. The court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to convict Chang An-le of violating the Political Donations Act prior to setting up a dedicated account.
