On June 25, 2024, Guo Hongzhang announced that Air Force Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Cao Jinping, will be promoted to Air Force Deputy Commander on July 1, 2024, as part of the second wave of military personnel changes approved by President Tsai Ing-wen after her inauguration on May 20. This wave also includes the promotion of female colonel Zhu Huifang to major general, making a total of 5 female general officers in the Taiwanese military, setting a new record. The changes are set to take effect on July 1, with potential further adjustments in the Air Force and Navy.
