The Taiwanese Presidential Office has strongly criticized Ko Wen-je, the chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, for comparing President Lai Ching-te to Hitler, accusing him of destroying the constitution and betraying trust. The office emphasized that likening President Lai to Nazi dictator Hitler is a grave insult to Taiwan's democracy and freedom. The controversy arose from distortions and misleading statements made by Ko and legislator Huang Kuo-chang regarding President Lai's pre-election promises and constitutional procedures.
