On June 19, 2024, Taiwanese fraudster Tsai Guo-an, who claimed acquaintance with former Taiwanese Vice President Lien Chan, among others, using photos to gain trust and illegally raised 3.7 billion NTD, was sentenced to 14 years 2 months. The High Court changed the sentence considering his severe fraudulent activities that caused substantial financial losses to multiple investors. Tsai, who pretended to be connected with various prominent figures, including falsely offering investment opportunities, was also found guilty of using illegal means to deceive people into investing over 3.7 billion NTD.
