The Ministry of Culture later apologized for not fully presenting Bai Nai's speech and Minister Lai showed support on Facebook, praising the emotional and resilient nature of her speech. Despite being censored in China, Minister Lai revealed his personal connection with Bai Nai, highlighting her support during social movements in Taiwan over the years. Lai commended Bai Nai for not forgetting the Tiananmen incident and praised the confidence and freedom displayed by Taiwanese musicians at the awards ceremony.
