A Taiwanese student at Fudan University in Shanghai punched a teacher during a law school graduation ceremony on June 19, 2024. The student was taken away by the police for questioning. Video footage shows the student hitting the teacher, causing the teacher's glasses and cap to fall off before the student jumped off the stage. Fudan University confirmed that the student, surnamed Xia, is from Taiwan. The reason for the incident is still under investigation. Earlier, Xia had criticized the university and mentioned his reluctance to attend due to his parents' desires in a Facebook post. Yahoo emphasizes not to imitate such behavior, reject violence, respect bodily autonomy, and seek help if needed by calling 113 or 110.
