The swimming pool at Taitung High School has been experiencing filtration system malfunctions for years, resulting in the accumulation of sharp and hard calcium precipitates at the bottom of the pool. This posed a danger of cutting students' feet and led to the ridiculous situation of students having to swim with socks on. The Sports Administration, along with the Executive Yuan Eastern Service Center, conducted on-site inspections and will submit a repair plan to improve pool safety. The high calcium content in Taitung's tap water has been a longstanding issue, and addressing this issue will involve renovating the pool's filtration system and updating the sunshade net through a proposed budget of 8.7 million NTD. Despite not receiving funding this year, the school announced the mandatory requirement for students to wear socks during swimming classes for safety. The Sports Administration promptly dispatched experts to address the situation and work on improving the conditions, aiming to ensure a safe environment for students.
