Taiwanese Temple Asked to Store Ammunition? Legislator Hsieh Lung-chieh Accuses Lai Ching-te of 'Vote Buying': Saying Airborne Troops Won't See Combat Before Election

Reported 12 months ago

Recently, several temples in Miaoli County received documents from the Miaoli County Reserve Command requesting their assistance in signing the 'Ammunition Pre-stock Support Agreement,' allowing ammunition reserves to be stored on temple premises. KMT legislator Hsieh Lung-chieh questioned President Lai's pre-election statement that conscripts wouldn't see combat and criticized the request to store ammunition in temples post-election as deceptive to voters. Hsieh raised concerns about potential risks and the violation of religious sanctuaries for military purposes, questioning the urgency behind the decision by Defense Minister Kao and President Lai. He also criticized the selective storage of ammunition and the discrepancy in political promises regarding conscription and national security.
