In response to backlash for 'marrying' Mazu and Guan Gong, a private temple in Tainan, Taiwan, released three statements through a law firm, apologizing and clarifying that the ceremony was an internal religious ritual with leaked internal notices leading to misunderstandings. While apologizing for the confusion caused, the temple also warned against malicious attacks on their religious beliefs and stated they would take legal action to defend their freedom of religion.
