Taiwanese Woman Almost Becomes a Scam Victim in Applying for Relief Fund; Police Prevents Loss of Only 57 NTD

A 31-year-old woman in Taichung, surnamed Zhang, almost fell victim to a scam group in her attempt to apply for relief funds. She was contacted by scammers offering assistance in applying for the relief funds, and was asked to send her financial withdrawal card by mail. Suspicious, a postal worker alerted the police who intervened in time to prevent Zhang from sending her card and becoming a victim of a scam. The police urge the public to be cautious of scams, especially those offering loans at low interest rates and requesting personal documents to be sent via text or social media, advising individuals to seek help from legitimate sources if facing financial difficulties and to contact the authorities for verification if in doubt.
