A woman surnamed Li in Tainan attempted to drive under the influence after her boyfriend got heavily intoxicated at a barbecue gathering. When stopped by the police, her blood alcohol level was measured at 0.98 mg, leading to her immediate arrest for public endangerment. Both Li and her boyfriend complained about the high fines imposed, joking that they could have just taken taxis for the rest of their lives. Li's driver's license will be suspended for one to two years, and her friend who failed to stop her from driving under the influence will have their vehicle impounded and license suspended for two years, as well as facing a fine of NT$6,000 to NT$15,000. The incident serves as a reminder to avoid drinking and driving, highlighting the consequences of such reckless behavior.
