Taiwanese Woman Diagnosed with Rare 'Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis' Due to Bedsheets

Reported 8 months ago

A 30-year-old woman in Taichung, Taiwan, visited the emergency room with symptoms of bloating, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. She was diagnosed with the rare condition of 'Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis,' with bedsheets being the surprising culprit. The woman's symptoms mimicked bacterial gastroenteritis, but her eosinophilic white blood cell count was six times higher than normal, leading to the atypical gastroenteritis. She was successfully treated in the hospital and reminded of the importance of regular bedsheets cleaning to prevent allergen dust mites proliferation.
