Palau's picturesque ocean views attract many tourists, but recently a Taiwanese woman traveling there was allegedly taken into a small room by Palau customs officials and forced to strip for an intimate inspection, leading to feelings of humiliation. Despite the incident, Palau authorities claim the search was conducted according to the law and without discrimination. Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises its citizens to contact the embassy in Palau for assistance in case of emergencies or unequal treatment while in Palau.
