With a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Taiwan, the Health Department reported 817 new cases last week, increasing from 624 cases the previous week. Amidst the surge, the number of people waiting for hospital beds at National Taiwan University Hospital exceeded one hundred. A woman caring for her husband in the hospital contracted the virus herself and sustained injuries, ultimately being re-admitted. Healthcare workers express concerns over the increased hospitalizations, delays in treatment for patients, and the predominance of cases among elderly individuals. Health authorities anticipate the sixth wave of the outbreak to continue until mid-July and emphasize the importance of strict preventive measures, such as mask-wearing and vaccination.
