In the midst of the summer diving season, many diving enthusiasts enjoy vacationing in Palau. However, a recent incident involved a Taiwanese woman who was humiliated by Palauan customs officials upon arrival. Despite passing through security checks and having no issues with her luggage, she was coerced into a room where officials demanded she undress fully for a physical examination, including inspecting intimate areas. This traumatic experience left her in tears and vowing never to return to Palau. The incident was explained as a result of increased security measures following a case involving a Chinese woman smuggling drugs in her intimate parts. Taiwanese officials are providing assistance to citizens facing discrimination in Palau.
