On June 15, 2024, it was reported that a maintenance company for Taoyuan's drinking water dispensers, Taoyuan Corporation, allegedly switched water samples for testing and did not use authorized filters as per specifications. Taoyuan Corporation stated that the sampling process by the maintenance company violated regulations and they have requested the Taoyuan Prosecutor's Office to investigate. Additionally, five schools commissioned the same company for testing. Concerns were raised by a Democratic Progressive Party councilor about the authenticity of the water samples and filters used. The company mentioned that the sampling process violated regulations and they have requested further investigation. Taoyuan's Education Bureau confirmed that five schools had all their water dispenser filters replaced and tested by the company. The company is also under scrutiny for maintenance practices. Taoyuan Rapid Transit Corporation stated that the company failed to comply with water quality sampling regulations and they have conducted tests to verify the water quality. Despite passing the tests, the Taoyuan Prosecutor's Office has been involved, and filters from the stations are being inspected to ensure compliance with contract specifications. The Education Bureau of Taoyuan City mentioned that three elementary schools and two kindergartens in Taoyuan had their water dispensers tested by the said company, and all filter cartridges have been replaced and tested by the Environmental Protection Bureau.
