Chang Chao-liang, a Taoyuan city councilor and associate of former mayor Cheng Wen-tsan, was arrested early this morning following an investigation into allegations of corrupt lobbying related to illegal constructions. Following a search of his offices, the authorities detained Chang and five others, suspecting him of attempting to interfere in the demolition of a reported illegal building for commercial purposes. The prosecution has sought his detention due to concerns about potential evidence tampering.
