Cheng Wen-tsan, the Chairperson of the Straits Exchange Foundation, was suddenly brought in for questioning by the authorities due to various land scandal allegations during his tenure as the Mayor of Taoyuan. He was subsequently detained and denied any contact under the Anti-Corruption Act. If found guilty, Cheng could face over seven years in prison and a fine of up to 60 million NTD under the regulations. The authorities are investigating corruption charges, and Cheng may be released on bail or released if there is insufficient evidence.
