Tax season has officially begun, with the IRS expecting 140 million returns by April 15. Taxpayers can now use a new online tool, 'Where's My Refund?', to check refund statuses. If filing electronically, refunds typically arrive in 21 days or less, while paper returns may take over four weeks. For those eligible, credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit can also impact refund amounts. This year, the IRS has expanded its Direct File program, allowing more individuals to file taxes directly for free.
