A female teacher in Taipei nearly fell victim to a scam after attempting to withdraw 4 million NT dollars for renovations by claiming the money was for the contractor. The bank immediately alerted the police, suspecting fraud. The teacher, 'Xiao Zhen,' justified the large withdrawal for home repairs, insisting her husband handled the contractor's communication. However, upon investigation, it was revealed that she had been deceived by a fraud group pretending to be her 'husband' online without ever meeting in person. The police intervened, advising Xiao Zhen of the typical scam tactics and preventing her hard-earned savings from being lost. Authorities warned the public about fraud schemes using attractive photos and false promises in investment opportunities, urging people to report suspicious messages and utilize anti-fraud hotlines to safeguard their finances.
