Tech firm penalized for posting job ad that discriminated against non-white applicants

Reported 6 months ago

A Virginia-based tech firm, Arthur Grand Technologies, has been fined $38,500 after posting an online job ad in March 2023 that explicitly stated only white Americans should apply for a Salesforce business analyst and insurance claims position, limited to US-born citizens within 60 miles of Dallas, Texas. The company, a minority-owned federal contractor, agreed to pay the civil penalty to settle the case with the Department of Justice and the Labor Department, acknowledging the discriminatory nature of the ad. The DOJ deemed the listing as "shameful" and in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act, while the Labor Department expressed commitment to holding federal contractors accountable for discriminatory practices. The tech firm claimed the unauthorized posting was made by an employee in India.
