Reported 12 months ago

Major technology companies like TSMC and Nvidia are investing in projects in Kaohsiung, focusing on the southern Taiwan region to boost the technology industry supply chain and branching out into the service sector marked by shopping centers. Kaohsiung's commercial developments include 'Mitsui LaLaport' and 'Fubon Hanshin' as the main malls, with a mid-sized mall by Uni-President Group set to open in 2028, and Bo-Wang planning a 'street-side shop' mall launching next year, igniting a new wave of investments. Various types of shopping centers have become a new highlight in Kaohsiung's economic development, with notable projects like Fubon Life's collaboration with Hanshin, planned to open in 2027, and Mitsui Real Estate's 'Mitsui LaLaport' in the Fengshan Cathay redevelopment area set to open in 2026. The establishment of large malls is driving plans for medium and small-sized malls in Kaohsiung, such as the 'Wanshi 38' public market BOT project by Uni-President Group, expected to open as 'Yohoo Living Plaza' in 2028. Additionally, the old Taiwan Water Corporation dormitory lease project in southern Kaohsiung, acquired by Bo-Wang Company for over 10 million NT dollars annually, plans to open within 2025 as a 'street-side shop' mall, emphasizing consumer spending in the cultural center business district and aiming to attract top brands.
