During the sixth wave of the Omicron outbreak, the youngest COVID-19 death recorded in Taiwan was a teenager in their 10s from the northern region. The teenager, who had a history of epilepsy, exhibited symptoms including a high fever of 42 degrees and continuous seizures before suddenly experiencing cardiac arrest in the emergency room. Despite being resuscitated and transferred to the intensive care unit, the patient unfortunately passed away the next day. The medical team diagnosed the case as 'encephalitis and septic shock following COVID-19 infection'.
