Temasek Holdings' recent stake sale agreement values U Mobile Sdn. at approximately 7.5 billion ringgit ($1.7 billion) after the Malaysian telecommunications provider secured a key 5G contract to develop the nation’s second 5G network. The transaction marks a significant increase in valuation for U Mobile, which is partly owned by Malaysian royalty, as it aims to finance the rollout of the 5G network independently and plans for an IPO next year.
