As temperatures rise, Taiwan experienced a peak electricity load of 40.54 million kilowatts today, the fourth highest in history, due to hot weather increasing power consumption. With the ongoing increase in summer temperatures, it is expected that electricity usage may rise further in mid to late July. Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) spokesman mentioned that recent days have seen a surge in electricity usage, especially before afternoon thunderstorms, leading to more air conditioning usage and higher power consumption. Taipower also revealed plans to announce monthly power supply and demand situations until December, ensuring a surplus capacity for peak hours.
