On June 17, 2024, at 5:27 am, a clash erupted between two temple processions in the streets of Puli, Nantou, with one side in deep blue attire and the other in yellow. The confrontation reportedly started when members of an out-of-town temple procession, suspected of being drunk, caused a disturbance and clashed with the local temple procession. Police intervened by using pepper spray to stop the fighting. The incident occurred near the Shuren Road Night Market during the 10th anniversary 'Pray-for-Safety Parade' organized by the Puli United Sanxing Association, featuring temples such as Zhushan Xuanling Temple, Taichung Nantian Temple, and Puli Baoan Temple. The police are investigating the conflict, and individuals involved may face penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment.
