Continuing to track tea adulteration, unscrupulous vendors in Taiwan are selling Vietnamese tea as Taiwanese tea, making up to a 10-fold profit. The flavors of Vietnamese and Taiwanese tea are similar, only discernible by those who understand the 'terroir.' If consumers cannot taste the difference, they can rely on 'traceability barcodes' to distinguish – scanning with a phone reveals the origin and source. Adulteration of tea leaves is rampant in Taiwan's tea market, posing risks of depleting the local tea industry and impacting Taiwanese tea farmers.
