At the ongoing Birmingham grass-court women's tennis tournament in the UK, Taiwan's top female doubles player, Hsieh Su-wei, teamed up with Belgium's Elise Mertens and swiftly advanced to the quarterfinals after a dominant performance against the British wildcard team, winning in straight sets of 6-1, 6-1 in just 49 minutes. This marks Hsieh's first grass-court event of the season as part of Wimbledon preparations and her partnership with Mertens aims for their third title together. Hsieh has previously won the Birmingham title in 2012 and 2019 with other partners. The duo faced a British team in the first round but showed no signs of struggle, winning decisively to secure a spot in the next round.
