On July 2, 2024, a Penghu fishing boat, the 'Da Jin Man 88,' was forcibly inspected by two Chinese coast guard ships while operating off the northeastern coast of Kinmen. The boat was then taken to the Chinese Weitou Port. Taiwan's Coast Guard Bureau rushed to the scene for rescue but was blocked by four Chinese patrol boats, leading to a one-hour standoff at sea. Military expert Zhang Jing analyzed the boat's inspection location, indicating it may have entered 'internal waters.' Despite tensions between both sides, the reason behind the incident remains unconfirmed.
