On June 21, 2024, at 8:45 am, Puyuma Express encountered a mudslide. Train No. 229, the new type of Puyuma Express, derailed in the Shoufeng-Hehren section at 51K west of the Zhengzhen line due to the impact of mudslides and falling rocks, with the second car off the track. The train conductor surnamed Chen suffered a broken hand, and 8 passengers were lightly injured. Taiwan Railways has provided shuttle buses for passengers. The incident was caused by heavy rain leading to a mudslide at the tunnel entrance, obstructed by a large amount of fallen rocks and mud, with rescue personnel assisting passengers, including carrying a woman out of the scene due to discomfort. The train has temporarily stopped service, affecting the Shoufeng-Hehren segment's eastbound line, with 525 passengers from Train No. 229 being transferred to Train No. 4033 for transportation back to Shoufeng and Xincheng stations.
