On June 22, 2024, Korean Air flight KE 189, a Boeing 737, experienced a cabin pressure abnormality while flying from Seoul to Taichung, causing a high-altitude rapid descent from over 30,000 feet to over 9,000 feet. Taiwanese passengers on board described the experience as a moment of life and death, with intense ear and head pain. Despite 13 passengers experiencing earaches or excessive pressurization during the descent, no one was critically injured. The flight, which also had many Taiwanese passengers on board, was eventually rescheduled to fly to Taichung 19 hours later.
