IFMGA guide Vinayak Malla captured terrifying footage of a cornice collapse on Mount Everest on May 21, showing climbers desperately clinging to fixed ropes after a section of the ridge crumbled due to overcrowding and soft snow conditions. Malla and his clients narrowly avoided the disaster, with four climbers self-rescuing and two still missing. Malla managed to break a new route for descending traffic, preventing further tragedy. The incident adds to the six fatalities on Everest this season, highlighting the dangers of climbing the world's highest peak in crowded conditions.
