On June 30, 2024, at 3:25 AM, a mother and daughter driving in New Taipei City were on National Freeway 1 when they were attacked with eggs and obscene gestures by the driver of a neighboring camper van on the Xizhi High-level Road. The incident caused them to report to the police out of fear. They later posted about the incident online, offering a reward of a thousand dollars in hopes of obtaining the dashcam footage of the driver behind them. The driver of the camper van, who allegedly felt the mother and daughter were driving too slowly, approached them aggressively, flashed his lights, threw things at them, and even passed by them, causing damage to their windshield. The highway police have stated that the involved party has pressed charges, and the authorities will be summoning the driver for questioning. Car wash experts have advised against using windshield wipers immediately after an egg attack as it could cause further damage to the vehicle.
